The Dog Days Family
Our journey began with a personal quest to find pet treats that would be gentle on our dog Keith’s delicate stomach while also being kind to the planet. Despite claims of being preservative-free, most commercial treats still made Keith sick. This led us to discover that many Australian pet treats are manufactured by just a handful of wholesale producers, resulting in a lack of variety and quality control.
Determined to find a better solution, we started experimenting with handcrafted treats specifically designed for dogs with sensitive stomachs. Through trial and error, we developed recipes that completely eliminated Keith’s stomach issues. With the help of my father, we began making these treats in larger batches and introduced them to the Kirribilli Markets in 2023.
Our mission is simple: to create high-quality, preservative-free treats using the best ingredients available. We source human-grade meats and fresh fruits and vegetables from local suppliers, ensuring that we know exactly what goes into each treat. Our commitment to quality means that you can trust every product we make to be safe and nutritious for your pet.
One of our biggest concerns with the pet treat industry is the excessive use of plastic packaging. Determined to make a positive impact, we worked tirelessly to source packaging that is either home compostable or recyclable, and we use compostable stickers for labeling. While our packaging might not be as polished as plastic, we believe that every small step towards sustainability makes a difference.
